I achieved my Masters degree in Transpersonal Counseling Psychology and in Art Therapy from Naropa University located
in Boulder, Colorado in 2005. Naropa University is  Buddhist-inspired, which emphasizes on professional and personal growth, intellectual development, and contemplative practice. Counseling takes into account the body, mind, and spirit.

I am a licensed professional counselor/ supervisor in the state
of Texas
(LPC # 62172) and I am a Board Certified Art Therapist. Please click on the art therapy tab to read on the healing aspects of art therapy. I utilize art therapy with EMDR, which stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. I am trained
in EMDR, which is an integrative psychotherapy approach that has been extensively researched and proven effective for the treatment of trauma and life stressors. EMDR is a set of standardized protocols that incorporates elements from many different treatment approaches. To date, EMDR therapy has helped millions of people of all ages relieve many types of psychological stress (EMDRIA website, 2015). I have witnessed the combination of art therapy and EMDR where clients have come to terms, find peace and integrate issues that were too emotionally charged to confront.

Before beginning my private practice, I gained clinical experience in a variety of settings, including working in a low income clinic, schools, community mental health rehabilitation center, and in a non-profit setting for over 10 years. I have primarily served children, adolescents, and families conducting counseling sessions in both English and in Spanish. I specialize
in art therapy, trauma, depression, anxiety, anger, and behavior problems. I have a special place in my heart for foster children and to better serve this population, I founded Artvango Therapeutic Services, Inc. where children can self express in a healthy fashion. I accept Medicaid, Tricare Insurance and private pay. If you are interested in my services please visit the "contact me" tab or go to Artvango.org
